Katharina Schuster
B.S. Computer Science; 17 years patent legal experience; 2.5 years work experience as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO; significant patent prosecution work for ProofPoint (and SocialWare, a company acquired by ProofPoint). Katharina began her patent legal career as an Examiner at the USPTO and has focused her entire career on patent prosecution, primarily focused on software-related technologies. Katharina earned her Computer Science degree from the University of Maryland in 1992 and following graduation worked in a variety of publishing capacities utilizing various computer graphics and publishing software programs. Katharina received her J.D. with Intellectual Property Concentration from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2000 and during law school Katharina worked full time as an Examiner examining patent applications in the computer technology center of the USPTO. Since graduating from law school, she has practiced as a top senior patent attorney at Lumen Intellectual Property in Palo Alto and at Sprinkle IP Law Group. Katharina combines her significant patent prosecution experience with her first-hand knowledge of the inner workings of the U.S. Patent Office to develop effective strategies for prosecution of applications through the USPTO. Katharina has significant patent prosecution experience with software-related patents and patent applications and has prosecuted those applications both in the United States and abroad. In particular, Katharina has drafted patents covering rule-based expert and knowledge management systems. Katharina is licensed to practice in Maryland and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Katharina Schuster is a highly skilled patent prosecutor who has decades of experience in a wide range of technology fields.
