Ari Akmal

B.S. Computer Science; 17 years patent legal experience; 3 years software engineering work experience. Ari Akmal has focused his entire career on patent prosecution, primarily focused on software-related technologies for start-up companies. Ari earned his degree in Computer Science from Yale University in 1995. Following graduation Ari worked for one year at Sun Microsystems and then two years at Tandem Computers/Digital Equipment Corporation/Compaq Computers in a variety of engineering roles, ranging from software development for UNIX operating systems to hardware system fault tolerant testing. He received his J.D. Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan School of Law in 2001. Since graduating from law school, Ari has practiced as a patent attorney at Gray, Cary, Ware and Friedenrich, LLP and Sprinkle IP Law Group. Ari’s patent prosecution has primarily focused on computer software, computer hardware, wireless and telecommunications technologies. Specifically, Ari has drafted over a dozen cases for the multi-threaded gaming chipset developed by Toshiba/IBM/Sony for the Sony Playstation. Ari is licensed to practice in Texas, Texas State Courts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
